Ricoh is a global provider of document services, consulting, software and hardware. Their services and products enable businesses to become more agile, productive and profitable, by empowering people to work smarter and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.
With 3,000+ employees in the UK and a Line Manager Population of 300+, Ricoh’s internal HR Advisors and Business Partners were getting more and more overwhelmed with resolving employee relations issues, meaning that they were a) unable to focus and properly dedicate time to delivering more strategically important and value-added HR activities and b) that Line Managers seeking the support from HR weren’t being provided with the responsive support and advice they needed.
In 2017, we implemented HR Outsource Employee Relations Advice service for Leaders and Line Managers, providing them with access to confidential and expert employee relations advice. Our partnership has released the in-house team of HR Advisors and Business Partners from dealing with transactional employee relations enquiries, allowing them instead to focus on key HR projects and activities. It has also improved the level of support provided to Line Managers, better equipping them with the necessary tools and information to handle employee relations issues quickly and efficiently.
Through the implementation of our case management system, we are able to provide detailed MI and data on service utilisation by case type, topic, department and line manager, providing our client with real-time visibility of any trends in employee relation issues and therefore, where remedial action is required. For example, through the data we can identify areas where Line Managers would benefit from further training on particular employee relations topics such as performance management or sickness absence, and roll out this training periodically to upskill the Line Managers, enabling them to resolve issues at an earlier stage and reduce reliance on the advice service.
